For the past two years, lectures and practical projects based on Microsoft business solutions have been being held at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz. This is based on a cooperation between the Department for Data Processing in the Social Sciences, Economics and Business and the largest Microsoft Dynamics AX partner in Austria, FWI Information Technology. The initiative includes:

• Dynamics AX on the curriculum,
• The education of Dynamics AX trainers, who both lecture to students and take on the training of the next generation of trainers,
• The development of a Dynamics AX prototype for future activities.

The program also covers research, student projects based on the use of AX, and partner projects with industry partners in order to conduct research into the integration of third-party software or software solutions developed in-house. 

While the university concentrates on lecturing and scientific project work, FWI takes care of the installation and implementation of the system for the hosting solution and the qualification of the AX trainers. 

The installation of the Dynamics AX system at the J. K. University of Linz was completed in the space of just a few months. More than 300 students and a dozen lecturers have already been trained. Now, the task is to attract outside interest and participants. In addition to the options available at the university, it is also a matter of creating the right preconditions and applications for customer installations. Currently, potential projects are being identified and evaluated. The first results are expected next year.
